Looking back on this class, I had a strong sense that coming in, I would have to focus on my workload management for this class so I don’t get behind in the work compared to my graphic design courses. I generally start with my major-specific classes first (besides Art History) and go down the list during the weeks. I’ve done well for the most part, but I know I’m missing an assignment or two, so I’ve got to sit down and get those done. 

 

The writing course that challenged me the most was probably the press releases. The press release activity gave me a challenge because I don’t normally read press releases from companies unless I am interested in what they’re talking about, or I will skip the intro to get to the meat and potatoes of it. To make it more difficult, I also had to outline it for a company I knew nothing about, so I had to get familiar with the product before I could even start the writing process. I probably would have said the “I Am a Brand” activity, but I already have two brands, so I just had to merge them into one spot. The other assignment that challenged me, honestly is and was the end-of-semester eportfolio project. I have had my website up for years with little updates at a time. However, I’ve taken it down since the Fall because I am working on coming up with a true website for my graphic design portfolio, so going back to add the writing assignments from the semester and publishing them was interesting to do. 

 

I have been okay with my writing ability. Like stated previously, I usually skip the introduction and get into the heart of the writing and them work from there. I’ve also done this with my other classes and it has gone great and gone horribly. I think my writing ability gets a little better with every writing assignment and writing class, so I feel a little better about it, but I know I’m not going to write a book next semester. I will continue to start ahead of time on the assignments and not play from behind. I also want to become more organized when I write my assignments because I can just talk about a topic that I’m comfortable with but when it comes to laying it out, I’m not the best person about it.
